Q. Where do you get inspiration for your cake designs?
Most of the cakes we make are personalized to suit the bride's theme and wedding colors. Each creation is a collaboration between myself and my clients and i do take a lot of time researching about design details and elements to make our cakes unique and creative -- from the smallest details of our sugar flowers... to the colors and overall execution of our cakes.

We are honored that our work has served as an inspiration to brides and other cakemakers here in Manila and abroad. We only ask that if you want to recreate a design originated by Judy, that you give credit to the design if ever you are publishing your photo (in a website, magazine, or photo album).

Q. I am getting married outside Manila. Do you deliver cakes to out-of-town locations? Can the cakes be shipped or air freighted?
Yes, we can deliver outside of Metro Manila. However, we will have to charge you for delivery and other incidental costs. Delivery fees would depend on the location of your venue. There are certain risks involved if the cakes have to be flown so I recommend that I, or together with an assistant, would accompany the cakes to assemble and decorate them at the wedding destination. All out-of- town fares and accommodations will be charged to the client.
Airline carriers though, cannot guarantee the safe handling of the cakes.

Q. Do you do international weddings? I am getting married in the US/Asia.
I would gladly discuss this option with you. Sometimes, the cost of my cake including my airfare and accomodations would still be lower compared to getting a cake in your international location.

Q. How much are the cakes? There are no prices listed in the website.
Our cakes are custom-designed and final prices would thus depend on the size, flavors and design of the cake. Just to give you an idea of the range: three-layer cakes could cost anywhere from P9,000-20,000.

As a general rule, the cost of a cake depends on how much artistic labor is involved. Therefore cakes that are a difficult or intricate that would require a lot of fine lace piping or sugar flowers will be more expensive.

Q. How do we set an appointment? Where can we meet?

The Cake Artist now holds office at the One Wedding Gallery showroom at Edsa Shangrila Hotel (Ground Floor, just after the hotel's Business Center). Please note that all meetings and consultations are by appointment only. Please call 4308512 or 0917-3242768 for inquiries and appointments.

Our staff would be mostly available to meet during Thursdays at One Wedding Gallery. For other days of the week (Mondays-Saturdays), clients could make an appointment to meet with The Cake Artist staff at their home office in Quezon City.

Q. Can I request you to use fresh flowers on my cake?
As much as possible, I try to use all-edible decorations on our cakes and would advise against the use of fresh flowers and foliage. These will come in contact with the cake and there may be pollen, insects and pesticide issues that you may need to consider. Besides, my sugar creations capture the life-like beauty of many favorite varieties of flowers found around the world making your cake a complete work of art.

Q. I would like to learn about baking and cake decorating. Do you conduct regular classes?
I sometimes conduct special cooking and baking demonstrations but the schedule is not very regular. I can also conduct personalized classes on request. You'll have to call me so we can discuss details.

Q. My caterer/hotel/venue already has a cake in their package but I really would like to have one of your creations. What do you suggest?
You can discuss with your supplier what options you have regarding their package inclusions. Sometimes, the caterer/hotel/venue would agree to replace the cake with an alternative item or take out the cost of their cake from your package.

Q. Aside from wedding cakes, do you also make cakes for birthdays or other special functions?
Yes, we can. I also do cakes and edible give-aways for debuts, grand birthdays, corporate events and even children's parties. One-layer cakes start at P4,000.

Q. Can we have all layers with real cake? I've heard other cake makers say that this is not possible.
It is possible to have real cake in all the layers. It would be up to you if you want to have some dummy layers, or if you want the whole cake to be real.

Q. How much lead time do I need to order a cake? Can I order my cake one month before my wedding? How do I make a reservation?
Some of my clients book/reserve as early as one year in advance. Some make their reservations only just a few months before the date. I will accept the order as long as my schedule is still open for your wedding day. If you have decided to allow me to make your cake, you can make a 50% down payment and the balance would be due not later than 2 weeks before the wedding date.
